{"id":19215,"date":"2021-09-08T15:48:31","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T20:48:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/winnipeghumanesociety.ca\/?p=19215"},"modified":"2021-09-08T15:48:31","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T20:48:31","slug":"new-school-year-new-education-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/winnipeghumanesociety.ca\/new-school-year-new-education-department\/","title":{"rendered":"New School Year, New Education Department!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the new school year having just arrived, we wanted to highlight our awesome new programs!<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/winnipeghumanesociety.ca\/your-family-pet\/pet-empathy-pet-therapy\/\">Empathy for All Living Things series<\/a> (formerly known as WHS In Your School) has added some new presentations to the mix!<\/p>\n<p>The presentations we now offer are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basic and Emotional Needs<\/li>\n<li>Conflict<\/li>\n<li>Intelligence<\/li>\n<li>Loss and Grief<\/li>\n<li>Personal Space<\/li>\n<li>Relationships<\/li>\n<li>Safe Interactions<\/li>\n<li>Selfcare of People and Animals<\/li>\n<li>Stress and Emotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The best part about our new presentations, is that they can be modified to any age group!<\/p>\n<p>If the idea of having a presentation isn\u2019t for you but are you\u2019re still wanting to spend time with a furry friend, we offer our Animal Companionship Program!<\/p>\n<p>Our <a href=\"https:\/\/winnipeghumanesociety.ca\/animal-companionship\/\">Animal Companionship Program<\/a> (formerly know as Pet Therapy) is a perfect way to help the students get through the stress of going back to school. We can come out to your school with one of our behaviour-assessed Dog Ambassadors and spend an hour taking in all the cuteness!<\/p>\n<p>Last but certainly not least, we wanted to highlight our<a href=\"https:\/\/winnipeghumanesociety.ca\/your-family-pet\/see-spot-read\/\"> See Spot Read Program<\/a>. See Spot Read runs for 10 weeks here at the shelter. We run a fall, winter, and spring session every year. Students will spend 30 minutes reading to our dog ambassadors and then spend the remaining 30 minutes doing a fun literacy activity. The goal of the program is to help students build their confidence with reading.
