The Winnipeg Humane Society Pet Food Bank provides dog and cat food to pet owners in financial hardship.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

We want to help keep pets and people together, especially during challenging times.

  • Our Pet Food Bank offers free dog and cat food on an as-available basis. While the amount of food provided may vary depending on our supply levels, we strive to support pet owners in caring for their beloved companions.
  • To help as many families as possible, the Pet Food Bank accommodates a maximum of four (4) pets per household. Each household is eligible for one request per month, with enrollment lasting up to six months.
  • Enrollment remains active for six months from the date of approval. We encourage you, if help is still needed, to reapply at the end of this period to update any important information about your pets.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: After you submit your application, we will quickly review and process it. Following our review, we will reach out to discuss the next steps.

Upon receiving approval, please schedule a pickup time at the Winnipeg Humane Society (45 Hurst Way) between Monday and Friday, from 1:30 PM- 4:00 PM.

Human foods dogs CAN eat:

Animal protein like chicken, fish, beef, lamb and pork (avoid fat and skin), apples, bananas, blueberries, cantaloupe, broth, watermelon, zucchini, squash, salmon, lentils, garbanzo beans, cottage cheese, carrots, cheese, green beans, honey, kiwi, mango, oatmeal, bread, cooked rice and pasta, peanut butter, pears, pineapple, potatoes, pumpkin, rice, spinach, strawberries, sardines, kale, sweet potato, yogurt.

Human foods cats CAN eat:

Animal protein like chicken, beef, pork, eggs, fish and lamb, liver, cheese, asparagus, banana, beef, blueberries, broth, broccoli, oats, peas, pumpkin, turkey, yogurt, spinach, tuna, eggs, salmon, rice, corn, watermelon, carrots.
