The WHS therapy dog program offers an incredible way for animals and humans to connect on many levels. And, it’s not just the people on the receiving end that can gain benefits. Volunteers with program can too, by:

  1. Being involved in your community: Volunteering as a therapy dog gives you and your dog a chance to visit new places, meet new people, and learn more about the communities we live in.
  2. Bringing a smile to people’s faces: Who doesn’t love spending time with a dog? By being a therapy dog volunteer, you get to see the happiness your dog brings to other people firsthand.
  3. Spending your days with your dog: Not sure who would be happier if they get to spend all their time together, you or your dog? Being able to do something meaningful with your furry best friend is something most people dream of!
  4. Participating in a variety of bookings: Whether you prefer spending time helping children read or sharing stories with seniors, we have a wide range of therapy dog bookings so there will always be something for you to do.
  5. Being a part of the WHS’ amazing volunteer team:  We are always finding new ways to show our appreciation for our volunteers. Winning in one of our monthly draws or getting a shout-out as MVP are just a few of the ways we show our volunteers how much they mean to us.

If any of these reasons stick out to you, consider signing up as a therapy dog volunteer.
