Founded in 1894, the Winnipeg Humane Society is one of Canada’s oldest and well-known animal welfare organizations. Each year we rescue, care for, medically treat and adopt over 10,000 animals in need.

We are also one of the only Canadian SPCAs that educates Canadians on key animal welfare issues while also lobbying for legislative change.

A key part of our work involves inspiring youth and young adults to become active in making this world a kinder place for animals.

The WHS is awarding $1500 each to two youth (1 WHS Humane Educator Club Member and 1 Non-Club Member) who demonstrate outstanding efforts in making the world a kinder place for non-companion animals (farmed animals, animals in labs, zoo animals, wildlife, etc.).

Awarded endeavours may include but are not limited to: secondary education related to animal welfare, Humane Educator Club/community projects, and advocacy efforts regarding issues impacting animals and/or the environment.
