One Great Lottery has concluded its third lottery supporting Misericordia Health Centre (MHC) and Winnipeg Humane Society (WHS)! It was another great win for the community as the Grand Prize Winner Glen Cook from Winnipeg took home half of the $214,800 jackpot! Glen is a supporter of both organizations and celebrated his win with his family at the Winnipeg Humane Society last week.

“It was another incredible lottery and Manitobans really stepped up in support of these two great causes!” Says Winnipeg Humane Society CEO Jessica Miller. “Every single ticket purchased goes towards caring for animals and humans in need. We have carved our place as Manitoba’s lottery for the people and it feels incredible to hand this cheque over to a monthly supporter. Congratulations to all of our winners!”

The focus for the Spring One Great Lottery was to offer prizes that were suggested from the community. There were three early bird winners; Lynn R. from Winnipeg won Groceries for a Year, Peter D. from Winnipeg won a Home Maintenance Package for a Year and Erin L. from Winnipeg won Gas for a Year.

“Thank you, Manitoba! Once again you have showed your incredible support to our organizations through your purchase of One Great Lottery tickets! We are so proud to have given out prizes that truly resonated with our communities. On top of that, you have made a tremendous impact on the lives of all those who walk through Misericordia’s doors – thank you!” Kris Gladwell, President & CEO, MHC Foundation

The wins don’t stop there! Great Cash Calendar Winners have started being announced daily!

The June 1st winner, Jo-Anne had this to say as the first daily winner: “Why I supported the lottery? Well, my 95-year-old dad was in Misericordia for six weeks early in 2023 and received excellent care. Plus, I think the Winnipeg Humane Society does great work for animals, especially as many pets who were adopted when covid started are now having to be given up due to life and financial changes – the worst kind of trauma for a loving animal. And the prizes appealed to me, too!”

Two Great Causes

Winnipeg Humane Society is a registered charity and non-profit organization whose mission is to protect animals from suffering and to promote their welfare and dignity. Funded primarily by donations, events, and bequests, the WHS has pets for adoption and offers numerous programs and services that promote the humane treatment of animals, including farm animal advocacy efforts, pet first aid, and education programs for children, adults, and pets.

Misericordia Health Centre Foundation is proud to support Misericordia Health Centre (MHC) as it plays a vital role in meeting the evolving health-care needs of Manitobans. Today, Misericordia represents the future of care as a centre for multiple programs and medical disciplines. It is home to one of the country’s leading eye care centres, is an important campus of long-term care, and hosts Health Links – Info Santé. It also offers the provincial sleep disorder treatment centre and various diagnostic programs. MHC continues to be a model for compassionate care, just as it was when it was founded by the Misericordia Sisters in 1898.
